Moved 20 plants onto my 5th floor balcony and a neighbor thought I was running a nursery
This older woman named Betty from 3B knocked on my door last week and asked if I was selling the herbs. She pointed at my rosemary and said 'that smells like the one my grandmother grew in Sicily.' I told her no I just like cooking with fresh stuff, but she ended up giving me a cutting of her mint plant from her own balcony pot. Has anyone else had random plant swaps with neighbors? It really makes small space gardening feel more connected.

That rosemary thing with Betty is so sweet, the whole Sicily memory thing. I had a neighbor from 3F who saw me struggling with my tomato plant last year, it was all leggy and sad. She knocked on my door and gave me a whole bag of her homemade compost and some tips. Now we swap cuttings and seeds every season, it's like a secret little garden club up here. Makes the whole balcony thing feel less lonely, you know?

Betty sounds like a gem, man. I had a dude from 4B give me a whole bag of his extra basil starts last spring just because he saw me checking out his plants from the balcony.
