Chose between a stand mixer and a bread machine for my tiny kitchen, and I picked wrong
I live in a 400 square foot apartment in Chicago and had $250 saved up after selling my old bike. My two choices were a used KitchenAid stand mixer off Marketplace or a brand new bread machine from Target. I went with the mixer because everyone online said bread machines make weird square loaves. Turns out I barely bake cakes or cookies, I just wanted fresh bread. The mixer has been sitting on my counter for 7 months and I've used it twice, both times to mash potatoes. My neighbor Dana has a bread machine she got for $40 at a garage sale and she makes a loaf almost daily with like 3 minutes of effort. Meanwhile I'm still buying $6 sourdough from the bakery down the street. Now I'm trying to sell the mixer to buy a bread machine and nobody wants it for more than $120. Should I just admit the bread machine was the right call or is there some magic mixer recipe I'm missing?
