Just realized paper maps beat any app for route planning
Apps never show the subtle trails I find on the ground. With a paper map, I can mark my own paths and avoid crowded spots. It's changed how I explore.

Wait, is it really that big of a deal though? Sure, paper maps are cool for marking stuff, but my phone is right in my pocket and works fine. Most of us are just trying to get somewhere without getting lost, not find secret paths. It feels like you're making a simple choice into some huge life changing thing.

Have you ever seen someone totally stuck because their phone died? My friend was driving through a rural area last summer, and his GPS lost signal. He didn't have a paper map, so he had to guess at turns. He ended up on a dead-end road with no cell service. Luckily, an old farmer had a map in his truck and showed him the way. That hour lost could have been avoided with a simple paper backup.
