Spent a whole shift chasing a fuel gauge fault that turned out to be the connector I unplugged myself
Tracked a flaky fuel quantity reading on a King Air for about 6 hours, pulled panels, rang out the harness, swapped the probe, and it still bounced around. Turns out I had bumped the cannon plug loose on my first look and never reseated it, so I was reading my own screwup for half the day. Now I snap a pic of every connector before I touch anything, does anyone else do the photo thing or am I just slow?
Checking the plug is smart but the photo trick only helps if you shoot it before you touch anything, not after. The real lesson here is simpler: reseat everything you bump before you go chasing wires. I've done the same thing on a PT6 igniter box, spent two hours on a no-start that was just a connector I'd knocked loose doing the inspection. Photos are fine, but a quick tug test on every plug you walk past saves you the whole afternoon.
