I do the same now but I still check my first few studs with a tape, because one bad chalk snap or a twisted 2x4 will throw the whole wall off. The spacing jig is great, but it's not gonna fix a crooked footer. So yeah, take the method home, just don't expect to hit 12 minutes anytime soon.
