Paid $75 for a "guaranteed pickup window" on my move to Phoenix, truck showed up 9 days late
I moved from Denver to Phoenix in March and booked a broker who promised a pickup window of May 3rd through the 5th. The dispatcher called on the 4th to say the driver was still in Kansas and wouldn't be there for over a week, and my car sat in a grocery store parking lot until May 14th. The $75 was for "priority scheduling" and I still ended up renting a car for 9 days at $52 a day. When I called to complain they said the window was an estimate, not a promise, which I guess is buried in the fine print. Anyone actually get money back from a broker when the pickup window fell apart, or did you just eat the cost like I did?
Went through the same mess moving from Boise to Tucson last fall. Broker charged me $95 for a "premium window" and the truck rolled in six days late while I paid $48 a day for a rental. When I asked for my money back they pointed to line 14 of the contract that says pickups are estimates and not guaranteed, so the fee was basically free money for them. I filed a complaint with the FMCSA and the BBB, and the broker finally offered me $50 as a "goodwill credit" which I took because fighting over $95 was not worth my time. Best thing you can do is dispute the charge with your card company and say the service was not delivered as sold. That worked for a buddy of mine when the broker would not budge.
