Cost me $180 extra because I missed one tiny thing at the pickup in Phoenix
So I had a car shipped from Phoenix to Seattle and the quote was $850 for an open carrier. Easy right? Wrong. The guy shows up to grab the car and tells me it needs to be running and driveable onto the truck, and mine had a dead battery. Nobody mentioned that when I booked it. I spent 4 hours running around trying to find a jump pack and then the driver was already behind schedule so they charged me a $180 rescheduling fee for a second pickup date. Total wait from first call to car in my driveway was 16 days, when I thought it would be like 7. Lesson is ask about the exact condition rules before you pay a deposit. Has anyone had luck getting those reschedule fees waived or am I just out the money?
Tbh the $180 rescheduling fee is just a fancy way of saying "we got you by the wallet." A dead battery is like the most common car problem ever, you'd think a car shipping company would own one $50 jump pack between all their drivers. The whole "needs to be running and driveable" rule is probably buried in some terms page nobody reads, right next to the part where they can charge you for breathing wrong. Your best bet is calling and asking for a supervisor and being real polite but real firm, sometimes they'll waive it just to get you off the phone. If that fails, a chargeback with your bank is worth a shot since they never told you the rule up front. 16 days for a Phoenix to Seattle run is rough too, that's like a two day drive if you just did it yourself.
