Why does nobody talk about how bad parts store reman alternators have gotten
I was in a NAPA in Tucson a couple weeks ago and overheard a counter guy tell a customer he'd see him again in 14 months. That stuck with me because it's true. I put a reman alternator on a 2012 Civic in March and it died in July, 4 months on a part with a 1 year warranty. A rebuild used to mean new bearings, new brushes, new regulator. Now a lot of these are just cleaned up cases with one or two parts swapped. I've started telling people to buy a used OEM unit from a yard and have it tested instead. What are you all doing when a customer wants the cheap path? Do you mark it up and eat the comebacks or push them to new?
