Spent 45 minutes chasing a vacuum leak on a 2012 Focus, turned out to be a loose PCV hose clamp I could've spotted in 10 seconds.
Ended up pulling the whole intake manifold off before realizing the clamp was barely a quarter turn loose, has anyone else gone way too deep on a simple fix?

Done that exact same thing on my old Escape. Spent two hours tearing apart the intake to find a cracked PCV line when the clamp was just sitting there loose the whole time. What gets me is how you get tunnel vision once you start pulling stuff. My trick now is to shine a light and check every single clamp and hose before even grabbing a socket. Saves me from cussing at my own car later.

Oh man, I read somewhere that something like 80% of vacuum leaks are actually just loose clamps or cracked hoses near the top of the engine. Feels like we all gotta learn that the hard way at least once though. Definitely filing that "check everything before the socket" trick away for next time.
