Remember when you could just call the city water department and get a person?

My water bill in the Morningside area jumped to $300 last summer and the online portal was no help. I finally drove down to the City Hall East office on Ponce and waited an hour, but the clerk found a meter reading error from three months back. Has anyone else had luck fixing a big bill by just showing up in person lately?

My buddy had the same thing happen with a crazy high trash bill. He went down to the office and they sorted it out in ten minutes after he'd been stuck on hold for weeks. Sometimes you just have to go stand there.

Totally agree with showing up. Did the same thing last fall after my bill doubled for no clear reason. The phone line just put me in a loop, and the online form got a canned email back. Going down there made them actually look at the account. I mean, it sucks to waste a morning, but it's the only thing that seems to work now. They fix it fast when you're standing right in front of them.
