My brother-in-law from Marietta swore by this one landscaper for drainage, and I should have listened

Remembered my neighbor hiring a guy who swore he could fix their soggy yard with just gravel. Two weeks later, the whole thing looked like a creek bed after a storm, and the water was pooling against their foundation. They had to pay someone else to dig the whole mess out and start over. What did your brother-in-law's guy do that was so good?

Totally get what your neighbor went through, @oliviabarnes. I used to think just adding more dirt or gravel was the cheap fix for everything. What my brother-in-law's guy did was actually look at where the water was coming from first. He dug this sort of gentle, wide ditch that guides the water away from the house and toward the street drain, and he used the right kind of gravel with fabric underneath so it doesn't just sink into the mud. It wasn't the fastest or cheapest job, but it actually worked because he fixed the cause instead of just burying the problem.
