Rant: Took me 3 months to realize my coffee grinder was the problem

I kept blaming my local roaster in Austin for making weak coffee turns out my grinder was set way too coarse. I tested it with a bag from Anderson's Coffee and finally got good flavor after dialing it down to a finer setting. Anyone else waste money on beans before checking their gear?

Ha, I gotta say I kinda disagree with you on this one. Three months is a long time to not check your grinder settings, especially if you're spending money on good beans from places like Anderson's. I get being frustrated, but blaming the roaster first feels like jumping to conclusions. Most coffee gear has basic adjustments you can mess with before tossing cash at new bags. I've seen way too many people buy expensive beans thinking it will fix everything, when really their grinder just needs a little love or a cleaning.

Three months is a long time" yeah, maybe if you're running a coffee lab or something. For most of us, if the coffee tastes fine, I'm not touching the grinder.
