Found a Roman coin in my backyard and my dog tried to eat it

I was digging a new flower bed in my garden in Bristol last spring when I hit something metal. It was a small, worn coin that looked super old, and I got really excited thinking I'd found something cool. My dog, Barney, must have thought it was a treat because he snatched it right out of my hand before I could stop him. Has anyone else had a pet almost ruin a potential find?

Doubt that coin was real anyway. Most backyard finds are just modern junk. My old dog ate a bottle cap once, same deal.

Did you get the coin back from Barney okay? My cat once tried to bury my keys in her litter box!
