Just realized the city's new watering rule changed our oak tree's health in one year.
Our town in Ohio started a rule last spring that only lets you water on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I watched a big pin oak in a client's yard go from looking a bit dry in July to having full, green leaves this June. Some folks think the deep, less frequent watering made the roots grow stronger, but others worry it's just luck and a dry spell could hurt the tree. Has anyone else seen a big change in tree health from a city water rule?

Wait, they only let you water two days a week? That's crazy.

Has anyone checked if the rule changed what people are planting? My neighbor gave up on her flower beds and put in native shrubs that don't need extra water. Maybe the oak got better because the grass around it is weaker now, so it's not fighting for every drop.
