Had a squirrel drop a half-eaten apple on my head from 40 feet up last Tuesday

I was doing a hazard assessment on a big silver maple in Springfield, looking up with my binoculars. A gray squirrel on a limb above me was going to town on this green apple, bits flying everywhere. I thought nothing of it until the core, with a good chunk still on it, came down like a tiny wet bomb and hit me square on the hard hat. My ground guy just started laughing and said, 'Direct hit, pay up, that's lunch.' Has anyone else had a tree rodent try to feed them from above?

Springfield squirrels are brutal fruit ninjas.

Lmao, that's some serious aerial assault. At least you had the hard hat on. I'd take an apple core over some of the other stuff they could drop. Last month a guy I know got dive-bombed by a pine cone the size of a soda can. Squirrels are basically running their own little air force up there.
