Why I skip the thermal fuse check on dryers sometimes

I know most techs say to always test the thermal fuse first on dryers. In my experience, if the dryer has heat but no tumble, it's usually the motor or belt. Checking the fuse first just adds extra steps for common problems. I only test it after ruling out the obvious issues like the door switch or timer.

Honestly, how many times have you pulled a dryer apart and found a blown thermal fuse when it still had heat? In my experience, that specific combo is super rare. I'll check the door switch, then listen for the motor humming. If it's quiet, I'm already reaching for the multimeter to test the motor windings or that centrifugal switch. The fuse only gets my attention if the heat's gone too, which is a different problem entirely.

So with "heat but no tumble," you just skip to the fun part of dryer repair, huh?

That belt is always the culprit, right @the_julia?
