I finally figured out why that one freezer kept frosting up

Overheard a guy at the supply house say it's usually a bad door gasket, not the defrost timer. Checked a unit I've been fighting for 3 months and sure enough, a tiny tear was the problem. Has anyone else found a sneaky fix like this that saved you a headache?

Was it a tiny tear on the hinge side or the latch side of the gasket?

Actually @brooke_walker23, a tiny tear on the latch side is way worse than hinge side. Hinge side tears usually just flap around and don't break the seal completely, but latch side tears let all the cold air dump out every time the door closes. I had one on the latch side once and my fridge was running nonstop trying to keep temp, ice maker was struggling. Hinge side tears are annoying but latch side tears are basically a broken seal.
