Had a dryer drum try to escape a house in Phoenix yesterday

Got a call for a noisy Maytag dryer, model MVW7232HW. Opened it up and the rear bearing was GONE, just metal dust. When I pulled the drum out, the whole thing shifted and the front seal popped like a champagne cork, shooting a spring across the garage. Anyone else had a bearing failure get that dramatic?
