My bokashi bin in my Phoenix apartment went from perfect to a science project in 48 hours
Everything was fine until Tuesday when the temperature in my unit hit 85 degrees because my AC broke. By Thursday, my bokashi bucket was so hot and active it was pushing liquid out the spigot twice a day, and it smelled way more vinegary than usual. I'm debating whether extreme heat just speeds up the process or if it actually risks ruining the whole batch. Has anyone else had a heat wave totally change their composting routine?

That heat wave turned my sourdough starter into a rocket last summer.

I read a baker in Phoenix had to move his starter to a wine fridge just to keep it from blowing the lid off the jar. The yeast activity goes nuts over 85 degrees. My neighbor's starter actually split the glass container she kept it in, made a huge sticky mess all over her counter. She said it smelled like strong beer and vinegar mixed together. You basically have to feed it twice a day and keep it in the coolest spot in the house during a heat wave. Otherwise you come home to a science experiment all over your kitchen.
