A dealer's comment about my lamp shades changed my whole approach
I brought in a 1960s ceramic lamp last week and the vendor said my plain white drum shade was hiding the piece. I swapped it for a tapered linen shade in a warm beige and now the glaze actually shows. Anyone else had a dealer point out something obvious you'd been missing?

Oh man, same thing happened to me with a mid century vase. Dealer told me the dark shade was killing it and I switched to a cream linen one and it was like a whole new piece. Sometimes you just get too close to your own stuff to see it.
