Update: Finally chose between the 1740 Mitchell map and the 1760 Seutter map for my collection
Been going back and forth for weeks on which one to get for my wall. The Mitchell has better detail on the American colonies but the Seutter has those wild cartouches with sea monsters. I ended up going with the Mitchell because it showed a town in Connecticut that disappeared after 1750. It arrived yesterday and I spent 3 hours with a magnifying glass finding all the ghost towns. Has anyone else bought a map just because it had a weird lost place on it?

Oh man, that's awesome you went with the Mitchell. But hey, I gotta pipe up a bit about that Connecticut ghost town. I think you might be mixing up two different places - theres a few towns that vanished around there, but the one on the Mitchell is probably Newtown, which actually just changed its name and merged, not totally disappeared. Still, finding any of those old dots on a map is a real thrill ride. Did you check if yours has the lost town of Shakerag in Rhode Island? That one always gets me looking twice.
