Tried watching a 90s anime with my kid and it hit different
I put on Cowboy Bebop with my 12 year old expecting him to get bored in 10 minutes. He sat through the whole first episode and asked why nobody talks about how sad it really is. I've seen it 3 times before but watching it through his eyes made me notice all the quiet moments I used to skip. Has anyone else gone back to an old show and caught stuff you missed the first time around?

Used to think it was just a cool action show with a jazzy soundtrack. Watching it again years later, the melancholy really hits you.

Oh man, you're absolutely right. The scene where Spike sits alone in his ship after Faye asks him about his past. I used to just see it as a cool guy being mysterious. Now I see a man who's been hollowed out by loss and is just going through the motions. And the episode with the dog, Ein. The first time I laughed at the jokes. This time I noticed how that dog is the only pure, uncomplicated thing in the whole crew's life. They dont deserve him.
