Just noticed my anime watch list is finally under 50 shows after 3 years

I mean I started out like 3 years ago with a huge backlog of like 150 shows I wanted to watch. It felt impossible to ever catch up especially because I kept adding new seasonal stuff. But I started doing this one thing where I watch 2 episodes of an older show before I allow myself to start a new season premiere. It took a while but last week I scrolled through my MAL list and saw I only had 47 shows left. I honestly didn't think I'd ever get here. Has anyone else found a weird little rule that helped them chip away at their own backlog?
