Swapped out a door contact for a recessed one on a metal door frame and the plastic bit kept cracking on me.

Went through three of the cheap white ones from the supply house before I grabbed a Honeywell 958 instead and it seated perfect first try - has anyone else noticed a huge difference in build quality between the standard plastic contacts and the 958 style on those thin commercial frames?

Ngl the 958 is way sturdier, I broke three of the cheap ones on a steel door last month.

Three cheap ones on a single door? That sounds like you were going at it pretty hard. Maybe the problem isn't the screws, maybe it's the drill or the technique. I've hung plenty of steel doors with basic hardware store screws and never snapped one off unless I was rushing or using a bit that didn't fit right. People tend to blame the tool when the user is the real issue sometimes.
