Spent a whole afternoon chasing a false alarm that was just a spider web
Honestly, I got a call about a motion detector going off every 20 minutes at a house in Arlington. I figured it was a bad sensor or maybe a wiring issue, so I spent like 3 hours pulling covers off and testing voltage. Turns out a spider had built a web right across the lens and the reflection was setting it off. I blew it out with canned air and the system has been fine for 2 weeks now. Has anybody else run into a simple fix like that that took way too long to find?

Oh man, the "3 hours on a door sensor" hit home. I feel your pain. Next time, grab a tube of super glue or some heavy-duty double-sided tape and just tack the magnet right to the frame. The magnet doesn't have to be fancy, it just needs to stay put. Cats are little chaos gremlins, but a permanent fix beats troubleshooting that again. Trust me, I've been there, and a couple bucks of tape beats three hours of your life.
