My buddy in Phoenix swore by those cheap magnetic contacts for years

Honestly, he kept saying they were fine for residential jobs and saved a ton of money. I used them on a whole house install over in the Mesa suburbs last month, and three of them already failed from the heat. Ngl, I'm redoing the whole thing with proper recessed contacts now. Anyone else get burned by trying to cut corners on sensors?

Those magnetic contacts are rated for indoor use only... the adhesive melts at about 140 degrees. A Phoenix attic in summer can hit 160 easy. I learned that the hard way on a Tempe condo job last year.

Man, you're totally right. Had the same thing happen in a Vegas garage, sensors just fell off the door like week three.
