Wheel bearing failure after 900 hours, who's team greaser vs team replace?
Had a main wheel bearing seize up on a 737 at KLAX last Friday during the taxi out, loud grinding and the brake temp spiked past 400 degrees before we got it back to the gate. We pulled the wheel and found the grease had separated into a hard crust, but the inner race looked clean on visual inspection. My lead said just repack it and send it back up, but I'm thinking once a bearing shows heat like that it's done, what do you all do when you see that kind of thermal damage on the race?
