Tried the new ultrasonic cleaner on carb parts, went back to the old soak method
Picked up a 6-liter ultrasonic unit from a guy in Tulsa for about 400 bucks. Ran three sets of carb floats and jets through it with the heated solution, and honestly the results were decent on grime but it left a weird film on the aluminum every single time. Switched back to my 5-gallon pail of simple green and a wire brush, takes longer but zero surprises. Anyone else find these machines overhyped for anything that isnt precision injectors?

Man, that film is usually the machine eating the aluminum a little because of the wrong cleaner or too hot a bath. I use distilled water with just a splash of simple green and keep it under 120, and no film at all. The soak still wins for me since you can just walk away and not babysit it.
