Torque wrench calibration got me twice in Colorado, analog vs digital study
Had two jobs fail last spring at a regional outfit near Denver. Both times the digital unit read fine on the test rig. But the old analog beam style caught a loose fitting that the digital missed on a 737 flap actuator. Same torque spec, same day. Digital said 120 inch pounds. Analog showed 118 and a half. That half pound was the difference. Now I keep both in my box. Anyone else run dual wrenches for critical stuff?

That "half pound was the difference" line is what gets me, so how are you checking the analog beam before a critical pull? Do you zero it out and watch the pointer settle same as the digital, or is there a whole different feel to reading it?
