Am I the only one who thinks the 'just torque it again' fix for a loose bolt is a bad habit?
I was working a night shift on a regional jet in Omaha, and found a loose engine mount bolt during a routine check. The senior guy with me said to just re-torque it to spec and sign it off. I insisted we pull it for a full inspection. The bolt had a hairline crack you could only see under a bright light. Has anyone else pushed back on a quick fix and found a real problem?

Nah, you're right to push back. That "just re-torque it" shortcut is lazy and dangerous. I've seen guys do it on suspension components and brake calipers. You might get the bolt tight, but you're ignoring why it came loose in the first place. That crack you found proves the point. Good catch.

My buddy's wheel almost came off his truck because someone just cranked down a loose lug nut. The stud was already stripped and snapped on the highway.
