My air fryer basket shattered inside the sink last night
I was rinsing out the mesh basket after making some frozen chicken strips, and the coating just peeled off in big chunks while I scrubbed it with a regular sponge. The whole thing started rusting within a week after that, and now I'm worried about eating anything that touches the exposed metal. Has anyone else had the nonstick peel on their basket after maybe 8 months of daily use, and did you just buy a replacement basket or give up on the fryer entirely?
Mine did the exact same thing after like 6 months. The coating just gave up on a Tuesday night over some tater tots. I tossed the whole air fryer in the trash and got one with a stainless steel basket instead, no coating to peel off. Now I just use a little oil and nothing sticks anyway. Those nonstick baskets are a total scam, they never hold up. Youre not eating poison or anything, but rust is nasty and I wouldnt trust that metal. Just buy a new one, but get the steel kind this time.
