I thought AI was just for big tech until my local library used it

Our small town library in Bend got a grant to try an AI tool that helps sort and tag old local photos. I volunteered to help and figured it would just make a mess. But after feeding it about 200 scanned pictures from the 1980s, it correctly identified landmarks and even grouped photos from the same annual parade. It wasn't perfect, but it saved us weeks of manual work. I learned that practical AI tools are popping up in the most normal places now, not just labs. Has anyone else seen a local group use AI in a surprisingly simple way?

You saying it saved weeks of manual work really hits home. I always pictured AI needing a huge server room and a team of geniuses. But sorting old photos? That's just a smart helper. It makes you wonder what other boring jobs it could do for small towns, like matching up old records or tracking down missing inventory. Guess the fancy tech is finally getting useful for the rest of us.

Exactly, it's those little time-savers that add up. Our town clerk used a simple tool to cross-check names in old property deeds with digital tax rolls, saved her months of headache. Who knew the most useful tech would be for cleaning up dusty filing cabinets?
