Warning: the new fried chicken place on 5th is not what the sign says
I get off at the 5th and Vine bus stop every Tuesday. A few months back, a spot called "Golden Crisp" opened up with a bright yellow sign, looked friendly enough. I finally tried it last week. The chicken was dry, the sides were canned, and it tasted like the oil was a week old. Then I looked closer at the receipt: the actual business name was something else, and the health grade was a B. I checked the county records online and it turns out that location has changed hands three times in the last eight months, each time with a new name but the same fryer. The sign is basically a costume. Has anyone else seen a place near them pull this? How do you spot a rebranded spot before wasting $18 on a sad combo meal?
