My sister-in-law called my fiberglass work 'craft time' at Thanksgiving.
I had to bite my tongue hard not to explain the R-value difference between that and her knitted scarf.

Ugh, that's so frustrating when people don't get the skill involved! My own woodworking projects just get called 'playing with tools' by some relatives. It really takes the wind out of your sails.

My neighbor once saw me fixing a fence and called it "yard puttering." He changed his tune after I showed him the level, the post hole digger, and the pile of old rotted wood it replaced.
