My garage cooling setup proves you can skip the pro install hype

I hooked up a mini-split on my own as a weekend project, despite most guys saying it's a bad idea. Taking it slow and double-checking the lines kept it running cool all summer. Do you really think all DIY jobs end in trouble, or can they work out?

Did my own install last spring. Flushing the lines right is the main thing. Saved a bunch of cash and it still runs cold.

How'd that go? The tricky part is getting all the old stuff out, right? Did you use a kit?

I read a post on another forum where a guy used a simple flush kit from Amazon (like 20 bucks) and said it worked just fine for his 10 year old Honda. But then he mentioned he had to blow out the old lines with compressed air first or the new refrigerant just wouldn't take. Sounds like the key is making sure everything is bone dry before you even crack the can, otherwise you're just wasting your time.
