Honestly, I was aiming for a super clean break, but he was right about needing more tactile feedback for safety. What's a good weight to shoot for on a defensive pistol trigger?

Yeah, that's a classic gunsmith dilemma right there lol. You want that smooth, clean pull, but for a carry gun, you gotta have some weight so you don't accidentally send one when you're stressed. I'd aim for that sweet spot between 4.5 and 5.5 pounds. Heavy enough to be deliberate, but still smooth enough for a good shot. That regular might have been a little blunt, but he wasn't totally wrong.

Agree with @miller.eva, that weight range is the practical target.
