Shoutout to the old-timer at the Tacoma studio who said my gathers were too cold and 'sloppy' (his exact word).
I started heating my initial gather for a full 30 seconds longer before shaping, and my pieces have way fewer stress cracks now, so has anyone else had a simple tweak to their heating routine make a huge difference?

Wait, he actually called your work "sloppy" to your face? That's so harsh. But honestly, that extra heat time is a game changer, I started doing something similar after my bases kept cracking. It's wild how one small change can fix so many problems.

Ugh, brutal but helpful I guess. That extra heat time is such a simple fix, it's stupid it works so well.
