My apprentice said 'the bubble is part of the piece' after I scrapped a vase for a tiny flaw

I was about to melt it down, but she argued it gave the piece character. Now I'm looking at my 'seconds' pile completely differently... anyone else have a story like that?

You ever have a moment where you realize you've been your own worst critic? I once threw out a whole batch of mugs because the glaze dripped a little. My friend fished one out and uses it every day, calls it her 'weeping cup'. Now I see those drips as a feature, not a bug. Kinda makes you wonder what else we're getting wrong.

I once sanded a bowl down to nothing trying to get a thumbprint out of the clay. My husband asked if I was making a coaster.
