Serious question, is it just me or are more people skipping the acid test for calcite?
I was at the mineral show in Tucson last month and a vendor sold a piece of 'selenite' that fizzed when I checked it at home. Has anyone else run into this, or am I being too careful?
What did the vendor say when you told them? I always bring a small dropper bottle of weak vinegar to shows now, it's saved me from buying a few fakes. Some sellers get real defensive, but the good ones will swap it out no problem.
