My neighbor spent two years building model ships in his basement before anyone else in the cul-de-sac even knew about it. Some people just need a quiet hobby that lets them slow down and notice things most folks walk right past. Nothing wrong with spending your weekends on rocks if it gets you out of the house and makes your niece happy.
