I finally gave wall-mounted ceiling racks a chance in my 1950s garage

My garage in Columbus has 9 foot ceilings but the floor was a disaster zone with bikes and bins everywhere. I kept putting off overhead storage because I figured the studs would be too weak or my arms would give out halfway through. Last month my neighbor let me borrow his electric lift and I spent a Saturday putting up two 4x8 racks above the door track. The clearance is tight, around 6 inches, but my paddleboard and Christmas bins are up there now. The floor got clear enough to park both cars, so I'm honestly wondering why I waited 3 years. Has anyone dealt with water drips accumulating on the racks during Ohio winter thaws, or is that just my poor ventilation?
