I finally gave up on the 'perfect' phone case after my third one cracked
For years I chased these super thin, 'barely there' cases because I wanted my phone to feel sleek. I went through three different brands in six months, each one cracking from a normal drop onto my kitchen floor. Last week, I grabbed a cheap, thick silicone case from a gas station for $12 as a quick fix. It's been a month now and this ugly thing has survived two drops that would have shattered my screen before. Has anyone else found that the simple, bulky option actually protects better than the fancy ones?

My buddy had the same exact problem with his fancy carbon fiber case. He dropped his phone from his couch and the corner just snapped off, screen was totally fine but the case was done. He switched to this huge rubbery one his mom got him as a joke, it looks like a brick. That thing has bounced down a full flight of stairs without a scratch on the phone. Makes you wonder what we're really paying for with the thin ones.

Ever notice how the expensive version of stuff is often worse at its basic job? We pay extra for looks and thinness that actually make things break easier. It's like we're buying the idea of a product instead of what it's supposed to do.
