Why shellac turned my table into a sticky mess this weekend
I was working on an oak table and picked shellac for a fast dry. The humidity in my shop was way too high, though. The finish stayed sticky for a full day. I had to sand it all off and switch to a polyurethane base. Now I know to watch the forecast before I start any finish work.

Florida humidity never stopped my shellac from setting.

Minnesota summers turn my shellac projects into a sticky mess. I mean, even with fans running, the humidity just keeps it from setting properly. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I always run a dehumidifier before I start now.
