That talk with an old client hit me different

Had a coffee with a client I worked with 5 years ago. She said my rates scared her off back then but she respected I stuck to them. Made me realize I've been underselling myself on new projects since the pandemic. Anyone else had a past client make you rethink your pricing?

Wait, did she actually respect you for it or was she just trying to make small talk? That's the first thing that popped into my head when I read your post. I've had old clients come back and say stuff like that, and half the time it's just them being nice because they feel guilty for walking away. But here's the thing - that moment made you realize you've been underselling yourself, and that's the real takeaway right there. The pandemic messed with everyone's confidence, especially on pricing, because we were all just grateful to get any work at all. Now you know you had valid rates all along, so stop second-guessing and charge what you're worth again. It's a hard lesson but a good one.

Funny how this whole thing is just part of life's way of reminding you what you already knew.
