Chatting with a neighbor changed how I look at curb alerts

I was picking up a free lamp in Oak Park last Tuesday and got talking with the guy giving it away. He told me he posts things a full day before trash pickup, because 'someone's trash is another person's Tuesday project.' That hit different because I always rushed to post stuff right at the curb. Now I list my giveaways earlier, and they're always gone before the truck comes. Anyone else have a rule of thumb for when to post free stuff?

Oh man, that's a great point. I started posting stuff the night before and it's a total game changer. Things actually get a second life instead of just getting rained on.

Honestly, that whole timing thing reminds me of when I tried to give away an old TV stand. Posted it right as I dragged it out and it just sat there for two days in the weather. Tbh I should have listed it over the weekend when people are actually looking.
