Can we talk about the push for ceramic foam filters on every pour?

I was sure they were just an extra cost and step for small runs, but after a stubborn oxide inclusion issue on a series of 356 aluminum castings, my foreman insisted we try a 10 ppi filter. The difference in the X-ray results from that batch was clear enough to change my mind. Anyone have a good source for the 8x8 inch sizes that doesn't break the bank?

Stubborn oxide inclusion issue" is just the polite way of saying your metal was full of junk. Been there. The X-ray doesn't lie, even when you wish it would.
