TIL a customer's 'quick patch' of their subfloor with OSB over a 6 foot span caused my LVP to click for weeks.

They didn't tell me they'd done it, and I only found out after pulling up a plank to investigate. The OSB had swelled from a slow leak under their sink, creating a low spot no leveling compound could fix. Anyone else had a hidden subfloor surprise totally wreck a silent floor install?

Quick patch" with OSB over six feet? That's not a patch, that's a whole new section of subfloor they just threw down. No wonder it swelled up and failed, OSB is basically a sponge if it gets wet.

Exactly, OSB is the worst for that. I had a contractor try the same thing on a bathroom floor and it was a mess within a month.
