That one time a 4x6 herringbone pattern took me 3 days instead of one

Had a job in a Phoenix condo where the client insisted on a small herringbone with these 4x6 inch planks. Looked easy on paper, but the layout was a nightmare. Every single cut had to be perfect on two angles, and the subfloor wasn't level. What should have been a one-day click-lock install turned into a full 3-day saga of cutting, shimming, and re-cutting. I swear I wasted a whole box just on messed-up pieces. Anyone else have a simple pattern turn into a huge time sink like that?

Yeah, I saw a video once where a guy said small format herringbone is a total trap for looking easier than it is. That double angle cut on every single piece leaves zero room for error, especially on an imperfect floor. Your three-day fight sounds about right for that pattern.

A whole box just on messed up pieces? That's brutal. I can't even picture how many cuts that is. You must have had a pile of scrap taller than the floor you were putting down by the end of day two.
