A homeowner in Cincinnati told me my quarter-round cuts looked sloppy because I wasn't back-cutting the joints.
I started back-cutting every single joint with a coping saw after that, and honestly, it takes more time but the finished look is way cleaner, so has anyone else had a client point out something basic you'd gotten lazy about?

That bit about getting lazy on the basics, it's everywhere, right? You see it in how people just tape over outlets when painting, or don't pre-drill for screws. It's like we all know the right way, but we talk ourselves into a shortcut that always looks worse later.

My neighbor's new fence is already leaning because they skipped the concrete footings. It's that same voice saying "it'll be fine" right before you regret it for years. We pay for quick fixes with long-term headaches.
