My cousin swore by using dish soap as chain lube for a year
He said it was cheap and worked fine, so I tried it on my commuter bike in Portland. After about two weeks my chain was a rusty, squeaky mess that needed a full replacement. What's the worst piece of bike maintenance advice you've ever actually followed?
